Bookmarklet
The Bookmarklet is one of the most important features. It provides a simple way to add a website to LinkAce as a link without leaving the website.
How It Works
While on a website you want to save to LinkAce:
- Click the Bookmarklet
- A popup opens
- The popup shows:
- Login page (if you’re not logged in to LinkAce)
- Pre-filled link form (if you’re logged in)
Preparing the Bookmarklet
- Go to the user settings
- At the top, find the Bookmarklet section
- Drag the button to your browser bookmarks bar
Using the Bookmarklet
To start the Bookmarklet:
- Open the site you want to save
- Click the bookmark in your browser
- The bookmarklet opens a new window with the form for adding new links
Note: If you’re not logged in to LinkAce, you’ll be redirected to the login form first.
Pre-filled Information
The form will be pre-filled with:
- URL of the website
- Title of the website
You can then:
- Enter Lists or Tags
- Set the Link to private if desired
After Adding the Link
After adding the link:
- The Bookmarklet closes itself after 5 seconds
- You can jump to LinkAce by clicking the shown button
Using Text Selection for a Description
If you select any text on the website you want to save, the Bookmarklet will use this text as the description.
Steps
- Select any text on the website
- Click the Bookmarklet
- The selected text becomes the link description
