LinkAce Documentation Overview
LinkAce is a self-hosted tool for effortlessly archiving, organizing, and sharing your favorite web links. With a clean interface, you can save articles, bookmark tools, and preserve important content long-term. Easily categorize and retrieve your links, or share your collection with others.
What is LinkAce?
LinkAce is a bookmark archive that allows you to store any URI inside the app. Whether it’s a website, FTP link, or any other URI format, LinkAce can handle it.
Core Concepts
Links
Links are the heart of LinkAce. You can store any URI, such as:
https://example.comftp://user:password@server/file.pdfms-excel:ofv|u|...
Link-specific Features
- Automatic metadata generation: When saving a link, the title and description are automatically generated if you leave them blank
- Link monitoring: Links are monitored regularly and checked if they are still available
- Internet Archive backup: Website links are sent to the Internet Archive to be archived by their Wayback Machine

Lists and Tags
Lists and Tags are two different ways to categorize your links:
- Lists: Group links into broader or very specific categories (e.g., “Web Development Tools”)
- Tags: Can be added to links en masse and categorize links by various aspects (e.g., “internet”, “programming”, “farming”)
You can use both Lists and Tags however you prefer.
Users and Privacy
LinkAce v2 supports multiple users. You can use the application with family, friends, sports clubs, or coworkers.
User Roles
The first user created becomes an administrator and can invite others from the user overview.
Privacy Levels
When saving Links, Lists, or Tags, you can set them as:
- Public: Can be viewed by anyone with access to your LinkAce, including Guests if Guest Mode is enabled
- Internal: Can only be viewed by logged-in users (not visible to Guests)
- Private: Only visible to you
Sharing Lists and Tags
Lists and Tags that are either Public or Internal may be used by all users. Multiple users can create Lists or Tags with the same name.
