User Settings

LinkAce offers many options to customize your bookmarking experience. User-specific settings are accessible from the user dropdown menu in the menu bar.

The Bookmarklet

The Bookmarklet is one of the most important features. It provides a simple way to add a website to LinkAce as a link without leaving the website.

To use: Drag the button to your browser bookmarks bar.

More details in the Bookmarklet documentation.

Account Settings

You can change:

  • User details
  • Password

Both are available in the Account Settings panel or the Change Password panel.

Two Factor Authentication

For additional security, enable Two Factor Authentication.

Requirements

You need an additional device that supports:

  • Scanning a QR code, OR
  • Entering a 2FA secret

Setup Process

  1. Ensure your additional device is ready
  2. Click “Enable Two Factor Authentication” button
  3. Enter your password to verify intent
  4. After page reload, you’ll see a QR code
  5. Scan the QR code OR click “QR code not working” to display the secret for manual entry
  6. Once set up, you’ll be asked for the one-time-password when logging in

Two Factor Recovery Codes

In case you lose your Two Factor device or it’s inaccessible, use a recovery code to log into LinkAce.

⚠️ Important: Save these recovery codes where they’re safe and accessible at any time. If you lose access to these codes, you’ll be locked out of LinkAce!

Using Recovery Codes

  • Once you use a recovery code to log in, it’s removed from valid codes
  • Regenerate codes once they’re depleted
  • Click “Generate new Recovery Codes” button to regenerate

Wayback Machine Backups

LinkAce supports backing up your links with the Wayback Machine. Instead of storing data locally, the app relies on over a decade of experience from the Internet Archive foundation.

Note: Some websites restrict Wayback Machine access. If restricted, the website won’t be archived. Contact the site owner to enable Wayback Machine access.

Default behavior: LinkAce won’t try to backup links marked as “private”. This can be changed by enabling the corresponding setting.
